San Jose del Cabo & Corridor Dive Sites

Santa Maria Cove

This call little bay is teeming with Marine Life and is a good spot for all level divers. Located next to the Hotel Twin Dolphin, this photogenic area boasts Hard and Soft Corals, Sea Rods, Gorgonians, Octopus, Eels, Small Nurse Sharks, and Tropical Fish of every color imaginable. The back side of huge rock (40 to 70 feet) is a good place to spot the occasional Guitarfish, Sea Turtle, and Sea Bass too!

Chileno Reef

The Chileno Reef begins right at the calm shores of Chileno Beach and extends about a half mile out into the Bay. The protected finger reef is a great spot for beginner diver as you will find very shallow calm waters. This reef harbors an abundance of colorful Tropical Fish, Eels and Invertebrates like the popular Starfish and Flower Urchins.


The Blow-Hole

This is a 40 to 100 foot dive down the backside of a rock wall, you will see massive boulders, rugged tunnels and deep rock-cuts all covered with Gorgonians (Sea Fans). Here you will find Manta Rays, Sea Turtles, Guitarfish, schools of Jacks and Grouper, even small Nurse Sharks. The multiple grottos and shallow caverns formed by rock and coral formed the Blow-Hole, where magnificent marine life abunds. You can use the facilities at the nearby Chileno Bay.

Gordo Banks

This dive is for strong advanced divers only as the banks undisputedly offer challenging yet highly rewarding diving. The drive alone to this dive spot makes it worth it for many. Travel past San Jose del Cabo and Playita (a small fishing village) Punto Gorda sits seven miles of the main road and it is the gateway to Gordo Banks. Sitting eight miles of the coast of San Jose del Cabo the dive is set between 110 and a 140 feet. Be prepared to see plenty of action, these waters play host to scores of Hammerhead Sharks, Bull Sharks, large Manta Rays, Game Fish, and even the occasional Whale Shark!
